Disability access services
Ubiqus offers a range of access services for deaf and hard of hearing, deafblind, and blind users.
- Speech to Text (STT): real-time subtitling for the deaf or hard-of-hearing. Done by a stenographer or palantypist, STT produced scrolling text that helps users to participate actively in meetings and conferences.
- British Sign Language (BSL): used instead of STT for users whose preferred language is BSL rather than English.
- Lipspeaking: a lipspeaker silently and simultaneously repeats a speaker's message so the user can lipread.
- Notetaking: a summary is written for someone who is lipriding or watching an interpreter.
- Deafblind interpretation: a number of techniques are used depending on the user's level of sight and hearing.
- Braille translation: English texts printed in Braille.
- Audio translation: printed texts read in English on cassette tape, CD or digital audio files.
